Mature trees killed for 'research trial' at Wungong catchment

The Water Corporation is conducting a trial 'thinning' of native trees, including Jarrah, Banksia, Sheoaks, and Marri.

If this trial, which aims to establish if poisoning trees in catchments will increase the amount of water available for human consumption, is successful, the 'thinnning' trial will be extended to other water catchments.

The photo demonstrates just how big the trees are that are being killed although the term 'thinning' implies only very small copices will be poisoned.
